A method for initializing a user terminal according to an EAP(Extensible Authentication Protocol) packet loss is provided to deal with a packet loss by synchronizing a state of the user terminal with that of an authentication server without a separate timer to initialize an authentication process. A method for initializing a user terminal according to an EAP packet loss includes the following steps. If the user terminal receives a first initial authentication request message from an authentication server(210), it transmits an authentication response message having identification information to the authentication server(215). If the user terminal receives a second initial authentication request message from the authentication server(240), it initializes an authentication process(260). And then the user terminal transmits the authentication response message to the second initial authentication message to the authentication server(270).
