BACK-LIGHT UNIT AND DISPLAY APPARATUS HAVING THE SAME

A backlight unit and a display device having the same are provided to utilize an external light during a daytime when displaying an image, thereby reducing the power consumption and decreasing the number of the constituent parts. A light reflection-transmission member(10) and a diffusion member(20) are disposed to face each other. A lamp assembly(30) is interposed between the light reflection-transmission member and the diffusion member. The light reflection-transmission member has a first face(1) and a second face(2) facing the first face. The second face of the light reflection-transmission member is disposed to face the diffusion member. An external light(3) toward the first face of the light reflection-transmission member passes through the light reflection-transmission member so that the external light is provided to the diffusion member. An internal light generated between the diffusion member and the light reflection-transmission member is reflected from the light reflection-transmission member so that the internal light is provided to the diffusion member. The diffusion member diffuses the external light and the internal light.
