<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify a plurality of background regions in image according to data appropriately, depending on the characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The image processor comprises an image acquisition section 152 for selecting a plurality of first pixels in a document image 10; an image analyzing section 153 for making a first histogram of a first channel value in the plurality of first pixels, a peak identifying section 154 for detecting a first peak from the first histogram; and a region specification section 156 for specifying the characteristics of the document image 10. The image analysis section 153 makes a second histogram of a second channel value in a plurality of second pixels, having a first channel value within the range of first peak from among the plurality of first pixels, the peak identification section 154 detects a second peak from among the second histogram, and the region specification section 156 specifies the characteristics based on the first and second peaks. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
