PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable efficient production of a magnetic iron oxide particle having a high thermal conductivity and a high heat resistance. SOLUTION: An oxidative gas is blown into a ferrous hydroxide slurry, which contains a silicon source and has a pH of≥9.5, to oxidize the ferrous hydroxide until there are no divalent iron ions left in the liquid and a magnetic iron oxide core particle containing silicon is produced in the slurry. Then, a silicon source and an aluminum source are added to the slurry, and its pH is adjusted to 5-9 to form a coating layer containing silicon and aluminum on the surface of the core particle.
