The device has at least one platform (2) onto which at least one transport vehicle (1) can be driven, whereby the platform can be moved in the vertical direction into a first position to enable a transport vehicle to be driven onto the platform and into at least a second position in which the transport items can be loaded onto at least one load surface (3) of a transport vehicle. It has at least one lifting element for applying a force required for the vertical movement. An independent claim is also included for a method of loading large components.
