A method and a device for playing data are provided to offer convenience to a user by automatically playing the data again from an interrupted time point according to unique information of a USB(Universal Serial Bus) peripheral device. A connector(210) is connected to a storage device(100). A device determiner(220) receives unique information of the connected storage device and determines the storage device of which playback is previously interrupted by comparing the received unique information with the stored unique information. A controller(240) plays data again from a previous interrupt time point if the storage device is the previously interrupted storage device. A first storing part(205) stores the unique information of the storage device operated by connecting to a data playback device(200) and the last playback information of the storage device. A second storing part(250) is provided to convert playback data of the storage device connected to the data playback device into an audio signal. The unique information includes at least one of a product ID, a maker ID, total folder information, total file information, and detail file block information of the storage device. An MP3/WMA decoder(260) converts a sound source file such as MP3 or WMA received from a USB OTG into a digital audio signal.
