PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheelchair which enables the rear caster to easily be elevated when a carer step-operates a pedal and prevents the rear caster from suddenly being removed during use. SOLUTION: The rear caster 14 is installed on the distal end section of a leg rod 12 at the rear side of a frame 1. A first link 18 is pivotally attached to an extension rod section 15 under the rear side of the frame. The upper end section of a second link 20 is pivotally attached to the upper section of the first link. An approximately intermediate section of the second link is pivotally attached to an approximately intermediate section of the leg rod in such a manner that the first link may be tilted forward. A crank 24 is installed on the lower end section of the second link, and a downward urging member 30 on the leg rod. A lift-supporting means 33 is installed so that the rear caster may be kept lifted from a floor surface under a normal configuration. A stopper 27 is installed which stops the rotation of the first link by placing the first link and the second link under an approximately vertically standing state at the same time when the rear caster is lowered by the depressing of the leg rod while resisting the elasticity of the lift-supporting means by the stepping down of the pedal.
