The method involves bringing loose yarn sections (10) into a shed (4) by air jet. The loose yarn sections are fixed with a weft thread. The yarn sections are cut by a cutting device (7). The yarn sections are supplied to a reservoir (8) by a pneumatic suction device. Weight of the loose yarn sections is in the range of 100 decitex to 1000 decitex and weight of the weft thread is in the range between 20 decitex and 100 decitex. A distance between the yarn sections is changed in a warp direction by an electronic device. An independent claim is also included for a device for bringing yarn sections into a shed in a ribbon loom.
