PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal which controls a wireless LAN function by turning it on or off as appropriate to save power consumption, and which can share WLAN connection setting information with other terminals.SOLUTION: The portable terminal comprises: a WLAN section which executes beacon signal reception/transmission, synchronization and connection negotiation; a parameter generation section which generates parameters indicating WLAN connection setting information and beacon signal transmission position information; a mail generation section which generates a mail to notify the parameters; a mail transmission section which transmits the mail to portable terminals belonging to a group; a mail receiving section which receives mails; a location information acquisition section which acquires the terminal's own location by receiving a mail; a determination section which outputs a WLAN setting signal when the distance between the beacon signal transmission position information notified by the received mail and the terminal's own location becomes equal to or less than a predetermined value; and a WLAN management section which, upon acquiring the WLAN setting signal, turns the function of the WLAN section on and alters WLAN connection settings on the basis of the acquired or generated WLAN connection setting information.
