Steering column (10) for a motor vehicle comprises a steering shaft (16) connected on one side to a steering wheel and on the other side to a steering gear and divided by a safety element (20) into an upper and a lower part (12, 14). The safety element prevents movement from the steering gear, e.g. as a result of a front impact, being transferred directly to the steering wheel. An insulator (48) integrated in the safety element intercepts, insulates and prevents transfer of any vibrations. - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for the use of an insulator in a safety element. |
