Rocket propellant comprises 50-80 wt.% alkali metal nitrate, 10-40 wt.% of a polyol, 5-20 wt.% aluminum powder and 0.1-10 wt.% of a burn moderator. An independent claim is also included for producing a rocket propellant as above by mixing the molten polyol with the other ingredients at 80-150[deg] C, pouring the mixture into a mold and cooling the mixture.
