PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file storage system having a file management means capable of rapidly performing restoration processing from failure or the like while allowing high-speed response to a file access request from a client without having file management information. SOLUTION: The file management means has: a storage selected by a modulo operation based on a storage number and a hash value with an identifier of a file as an argument; a redundant storage management means redundantly storing the file in a storage selected by a reversible leveling function with the number of the storage as an argument; and a storage restoration management means selecting a plurality of related storages each redundantly storing a restoration target file based on the reversible levelling function and the number of the restoration target storage, specifying the restoration file based on a redundancy number and the identifier of the file stored in the selected related storage, and restoring the restoration target storage.
