The invention relates to a piece of furniture consisting of two box structures, one A of which is movable and slides in relation to the other B in order to enlarge the unit and thus create a photographic darkroom. This mobility is obtained by virtue of small wheels C and rails D placed respectively on the movable element A and on the fixed element B. Slopes shaped at the front ends of the rails D will enable the movable element A to rest on the ground when it is pulled forwards. Light-tightness between the two elements is ensured by the contact of uprights E and crossmembers F which are fixed on each of them. Ventilation devices G comprising bends in order to prevent light from passing through will equip this piece of furniture. It will be provided with a main working surface H, and with two pull-out (sliding) shelves I, the movements of which will take place simultaneously with those of the movable element A. It will moreover be equipped with an installation supplying the electrical appliances and lights. The piece of furniture according to the invention is particularly intended for laboratory work by an amateur photographer. <IMAGE>
