PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To favorably carry out cutting and removal of an oxidation-influenced layer by reducing cutting resistance of the oxidation-influenced layer formed on a surface of a pure titanium material. SOLUTION: This cutting method of the pure titanium material 1 is furnished with a process to cut off at least a part of the oxidation-influenced layer 3 while relatively moving a cutting tool 11 against the pure titanium material 1 in a direction orthogonal with its axial direction in a state of holding a rotation axis of the cutting tool 11 vertical against a surface of the pure titanium material 1. Length of a part having a function to cut off the oxidation-influenced layer 3 by making contact with the oxidation-influenced layer 3 out of a cutting blade 17 of the cutting tool 11 is set to be a value of not less than 130% and not more than 160% against thickness of the part to be cut off by the cutting tool 11 out of the oxidation-influenced layer 3 in the cutting process.
