PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear actuator whose moving member stroke length is efficiently obtained and which is easily downsized as a whole. SOLUTION: The linear actuator is provided with: a stator 3; the moving member 7 supported by the stator 3 so that it can reciprocate, permanent magnets 8a and 8b where magnetic poles are arranged along a reciprocating direction of the moving member 7 and coils 9a and 9b wound to peripheries of the permanent magnets 8a and 8b with a rotation axis extending in a direction crossing the reciprocating direction, as a center.
