A sheet type magnetic substance and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to shield an electromagnetic wave by forming magnetic layers on both surfaces of a resin. A sheet type magnetic substance(1) includes a sheet type resin(2), a magnetic layer(3), and a hard coat layer(4). The magnetic layer contains at least soft magnetic metal powder and a binder and is formed on one surface of the resin. The hard coat layer has transparency and is formed on the other surface of the resin to cover a printed unit. The printed unit is formed by printing ink on the other surface of the resin and has at least one kind of a character, a symbol, or a figure.
