Roof rack for vehicles

The rack has two tubular longitudinal rails (2) extending in a distance and parallel to a roof area along lateral roof frames. Supporting bases (3) support channels and carry the longitudinal rails, where the channels are formed in the supporting bases and on a vehicle roof (1). A carrier is screwable from outside with the roof and has a pivot (4) that is inserted in ends of the rails. The carrier has a cover that is manufactured by an internal high pressure deformation technique (IHU) and made of same material e.g. anodizable light metal alloy, as the rails.
