PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical device which permits a functioning portion to stop facing toward a desired direction even if the functioning portion is turned by the release of a twisting force accumulated in an operating wire with a turning operation when the functioning portion is to be turned with the turning operation of the operating section body.

SOLUTION: The biopsy forceps 3 includes: a coil sheath 32; a treatment portion 33 arranged so as to locate at the tip side of the tip face of the coil sheath 32; an operating wire 40 inserted into the coil sheath 32, capable of circumferentially turning in the coil sheath 32 and to rotate the treatment portion 33 by the turning action; and a turn restricting mechanism portion composed of a sheath fixing member 51 restricting the turn position of the treatment portion 33 turned by the turning force transmitted by the operating wire 40 in a first turn restriction position and a second turn restriction position rotated from the first turn restriction position by a prescribed angle, a treatment portion fixing member 52, and a connecting member 53.
