A multi-stage high-pressure pump having a rotating shaft (1), impellers (3) fixed to the rotating shaft, a casing (2) for receiving the impellers, a mechanical seal (20), a seal chamber (25) for receiving the mechanical seal (20), an oil containing section (30) for containing oil, an oil supply line (26) for interconnecting the oil containing section (30) and the seal chamber (25), an oil pump (31) for pressurizing oil in the oil containing section (30) and supplying the pressurized oil to the seal chamber (25), pressure retention mechanisms (32, 34, 35) for retaining the pressure of oil in the seal chamber (25), and an oil discharge line (27) for discharging the oil from the seal chamber (25). The pressure of the oil in the seal chamber (25) is set higher than the pressure of fluid. |
