The module (3) has a piezoelectric unit (6) bordered as a piezoelectric actuator (20) between an actuator base (5) and an actuator head (4). A protective layer system comprises an insulating medium surrounding the piezoelectric actuator and a metallic sheath. The insulating medium is partially implemented as a compressed ballast, where a material or a material mixture e.g. ceramic and/or glass powder, utilized for the compressed ballast is free-flowing in an uncompressed condition. The material or the material mixture includes a round granulation. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a protective layer system for a piezoelectric module.
