<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a settlement terminal and an IC card achieving both security and convenience for identification by combining PIN (Personal Identification Number) collation with biometric authentication. <P>SOLUTION: The settlement terminal has an identification number input part for inputting a user's identification number, and a biometric information obtaining part for obtaining the user's biometric information based on a predetermined biometric authentication method. Prior to identifying the user, the settlement terminal receives from the IC card a list of available identification methods and the priorities of the identification methods, and determines whether to perform identification number collation using the identification number input part or biometric authentication using the biometric information obtaining part according to the list and the priorities. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
