PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce data R/W errors by improving the accuracy in positioning the magnetic head. SOLUTION: A magnetic disk drive has a magnetic disk having a magnetic pattern area SM including a non-magnetic area S4 wherein centerline SMax is aligned with the center axis SDax of the data area SD, and a magnetic head 1. This magnetic disk drive obtains the track position information showing the position of the center axis SSax of the servo area by reading the servo area SS in the predetermined track T when the magnetic disk is rotated. A magnetic recording mark is added to the magnetic pattern area SM and the track position correction information showing the position of the center axis SDax of the data area SD is obtained by reading this magnetic recording mark. The magnetic head 1 is configured to track the predetermined track T while correcting its position for each data area SD based on the track position information and the track position correction information.
