PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure security of a portable recording medium such as an optical disk. SOLUTION: An optical disk apparatus has a security mode and a normal mode as operation modes. In the security mode, a system controller 32 records a security identification signal in an area other than a user data area of the optical disk, and at least a part of file management data is recorded in an area other than the user data area.
