The present invention relates to a method of analysis of dose metered devices, comprising the steps of spraying an aerosol from a metered dose device directly into a spray chamber of a mass spectrometer detector, by firing a dose from a metered dose device, for example a pMDI, by depressing the pMDI in its actuator, which spraying step is optionally preceded by a step of priming the drug container of the metered dose device; ionising the aerosol; identifying and quantifying the content of the dose using said detector. The present invention also relates to an analysis system, which is used, to perform said method. In addition, the present invention relates to a method of studying chemical interactions using said analysis method and system. The present invention method and system considerably shorten the time required for analysing the dose content of dose metered devices such as pMDIs.
