Sheets, bands or films of regenerated cellulose are coated first with an alcohol or benzine varnish containing natural resins such as manilla and dammar or artificial resins, solvents such as benzene and toluene, a plasticizer such as tricresylphosphate and a wax such as paraffin, which, preferably, does not exceed 10 per cent by weight of the total solids, and then with a waterproof cellulose nitrate lacquer containing at least 35 per cent of a plasticizer such as tricresylphosphate.ALSO:Sheets, bands, or films of regenerated cellulose are coated first with a transparent, moistureproof but not waterproof varnish and then with a waterproof cellulose nitrate lacquer containing at least 35 per cent of a plasticizer such as tricresylphosphate. The first coating may be an alcohol or benzine varnish containing natural resins such as manilla and dammar or artificial resins, solvents such as benzene and toluene a plasticizer such as tricresylphosphate and a wax such as paraffin, which, preferably, does not exceed 10 per cent by weight of the total solids. The cellulose nitrate lacquer may contain a small quantity of a natural or artificial resin. |
