A capo 1 for use with a stringed instrument such as a guitar or banjo, where the stringed instrument has a plurality of strings 2 and a neck 3 comprising a fingerboard (4) and a back 13. The capo 1 comprises; a string-engaging arm 7, a clamping arm 11, and a pivotal connection 10 to pivotally interconnect the string-engaging arm 7 and clamping arm 11. The string-engaging arm 7 is adapted to in use extend across the fingerboard 4 above the strings 2 and in use press against the strings 2. The clamping arm 11 is adapted to, in use, extend across and engage the back 13 of the neck 3. The pivotal connection is disposed, in use, 10 generally at a position behind the fingerboard inboard of a side edge of the fingerboard. The capo 1 may further comprise lever arms 15, 16 attached to each of the clamping 11 and string-engaging 7 arms, for opening and moving the aims with respect to each other. |
