ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR POWER CONTROL FUNCTION USING STATUS OF COMMUNICATION LINE AND METHOD THEREOF

An electronic device equipped with a power control function using a status of communication line and a method thereof are provided to power off the electronic device by stably terminating an operation of an operated microprocessor based on determination of the status of the microprocessor and the communication line when power-off input is received. A microprocessor(150) performs a power-off operation for stably terminating the operation of components included in an electronic device(100). A power controller(120) transfers a power-off operation request to the microprocessor, and controls the power-off operation of the microprocessor by determining a status of the microprocessor and a communication line(172) if a response is not received from the microprocessor when a power-off command is received. The power controller controls the power-off operation through a sub communication line(173) when abnormality is found in the status of the communication line. The power controller returns the status of the microprocessor to a normal status by transferring an interrupt signal to the microprocessor when the abnormality is found in the status of the microprocessor. A power supply unit(130) supplies power to each device of an electronic device(100) according to the control from the power controller.
