An image forming apparatus for performing color registration and a method therefor are provided to efficiently adjust consumption amount of a toner by performing automatic color registration based on conditions suitable for a current operation mode. An image forming apparatus includes a printing unit(110), a color registration processing unit(120), a storage unit(130), and a control unit(140). The printing unit performs a printing operation according to a plurality of operation modes. The color registration processing unit performs ACR(Auto Color Registration). The storage unit stores color registration conditions by the plurality of operation modes. The control unit controls the color registration processing unit to perform the ACR according to color registration conditions corresponding to a current operation of the printing unit. |
