PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for a cold-cathode tube which is superior in sputtering resistance characteristics, in which life prolongation can be achieved, which can be manufactured by a simple device, greatly with ease and in a short time without requiring a large-scale installation and in which cost down of products can be achieved. SOLUTION: The electrode 10 for the cold-cathode tube mounted on a cold-cathode tube for backlight is formed by the electrode main body 11 to carry out electron discharge and a lead-in wire part 12 which is continuing to the rear end part of this electrode main body 11 and which supplies electricity to the electrode main body 11, and these electrode main body 11 and the lead-in wire part 12 are integrally formed by a wire material of tungsten. Then, the wire material of tungsten is wound around a columnar member and formed in a cup form, and the lead-in wire part 12 is formed by a part extended to power supply side from the cup form bottom part.
