PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus where not only destaticization of a photoreceptor but also the destaticization of toner is simultaneously performed by photoirradiation and bias application, and image-force is suppressed. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprising at least one image forming unit composed of: a photoreceptor/an exposure device/a charging roller 3 for forming an electrostatic latent image; a development device 5 for developing a latent image and forming a toner image; a transfer roller 14 for transferring the toner image to an image carrier belt 10; and a cleaning member 7 for scraping residual toner after transferring, is provided with a light source 6 for bringing the residual toner after transferring upon cleaning or before cleaning into contact with a cleaning member 7 being an electrode with voltage applied or reduced to the ground, and simultaneously emitting light.
