The press (10) has a crankshaft (14) with eccentric sections (30, 32) that are rotably supported in a frame (12). A linearization mechanism (22) exerts a horizontal force on a pin (34) to convert a rotational movement of each section into stroke movement of a slider (16). A twistable intermediate piece (44) is connected with each of the sections. A lever (48) is connected with the piece by another pin (46) parallel to the crankshaft. Another lever (52) is connected with the lever (48) by a third pin (50) parallel to the crankshaft, where the pin (34) is interspersed with the lever (52).
