PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly predict the deformation of a sheet medium. SOLUTION: This medium deformation predicting device for predicting the deformation of a sheet medium having a hardness characteristic changing with the elapse of time comprises a shape history acquiring means 1 for acquiring a medium shape time history which is the information on the shape of the sheet medium, a medium hardness characteristic history acquiring means for acquiring a medium hardness characteristic time history which is the information on the hardness characteristic of the sheet medium, a virtual structure hardness characteristic acquiring means 3 for calculating the hardness characteristic of a virtual structure generated in the sheet medium from the amount of the variation of the hardness characteristic of the sheet medium specified by the medium hardness characteristic time history acquired by the medium hardness characteristic history acquiring means 2, and a residual deformation amount calculating means 4 for calculating the residual deformation amount of the sheet medium by using the medium shape time history acquired by the shape history acquiring means 1 and the hardness characteristic of the virtual structure acquired by the virtual structure hardness characteristic acquiring means 3.
