A system for limiting the speed of a vehicle having an accelerator control whereby a driver of the vehicle can vary the speed of the vehicle, the system comprising: a limiter for preventing the speed of the vehicle from exceeding a limit speed; and limit speed setting means operable during operation of the vehicle to set the limit speed, whereby while the limiter is activated, the driver is prevented from increasing the speed above the said limit speed, and an accelerator sensor for sensing the position of an accelerator control wherein the limiter is deactivated when the accelerator sensor senses that the accelerator control is outside a preset threshold. |
