The device (22) has an accumulator (32) including an adsorbent substance i.e. zeolite, exothermically adsorbing coolant i.e. water, when the substance is cooled below a desorption temperature. The substance desorbs the coolant, when the substance is heated above a desorption temperature. The accumulator is connected to an upstream and downstream ends of a connection conduit (30), where inlet air (A) circulates in an inlet pipeline (10) to constitute a hot source. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for intermittent cooling of hot inlet air (2) a method for intermittent heating of cold inlet air.
