<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for retrieving past operation examples similar to designated operation conditions, and for predicting a future state from the retrieval result with respect to a manufacturing process whose physical phenomenon is complicated. <P>SOLUTION: A time series database 6 in the operation state of a manufacturing process is prepared, and a process variable value is quantized, and successively stored in a table 8 for retrieval according to time data. The process variable value with the start time of prediction as a start point is quantized, and the quantized value is used as a retrieval key to retrieve a table for retrieval.
