<p>An organic electroluminescent device is provided to improve a luminous efficiency of a red color while maintaining color purity. A red light-emitting organic electroluminescent device includes an anode(13), a cathode(15), and an organic layer(14) comprising an electroluminescent layer(14c) provided between the anode and the cathode. The electroluminescent layer contains a red electroluminescent guest material and a host material comprising a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon compound having a 4-7 membered ring skeleton. A photosensitizing layer(14d) containing an electroluminescent guest material generating a blue light is placed to adjoin the electroluminescent layer.</p> |
