PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of controlling suitably an opening/closing timing of an intake/exhaust valve by controlling suitably each rotation phase of an output shaft and a camshaft by a variable valve mechanism, even when a load of a fuel pump operated sequentially with the camshaft is changed. SOLUTION: This valve gear is equipped with the variable valve mechanism capable of controlling each rotation phase of the output shaft and the camshaft of an internal combustion engine; a hydraulic control valve for controlling an oil pressure according to a duty ratio of an input current, and controlling each rotation phase of the output shaft and the cam shaft in the variable valve mechanism by the oil pressure; the fuel pump operated sequentially with the cam shaft; and a fuel pressure adjusting valve capable of controlling a fuel flow rate in a fuel passage according to the duty ratio of the input current. The load of the fuel pump is estimated from the duty ratio of the input current of the fuel pressure adjusting valve, and the duty ratio of the input current of the hydraulic control valve is corrected corresponding thereto, to thereby control each rotation phase of the output shaft and the cam shaft in the variable valve mechanism.
