The invention relates to a discharge lamp comprising a discharge vessel (2) and a tube section (3) connected to said discharge vessel (2), a Hg source being arranged inside the tube section. The tube section has an opening (31') at its end (32') facing the discharge chamber (2a) in the discharge vessel (2) and the cross-section of the tube section (3) is closed with a foamed glass material (6). The invention also relates to a method for producing a discharge lamp of the above type.
