A receiving container and a display device having the receiving container are provided to modify the structure of a receiving container to improve the strength of a portion where a drive IC(Integrated Circuit) is mounted, thereby preventing an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) from being damaged. A receiving container(800) for accommodating a backlight assembly includes a base(810) and sidewalls(820a,820b,820c) vertically extended from three sides of the base. A protrusion(830) is upwardly projected from the remaining side of the base. The protrusion is lower than the sidewall. The receiving container further includes a flat portion(840) bent from the protrusion at a right angle to the protrusion. The flat portion is formed at a distance from the top of the base.
