An apparatus and a method for inspecting a remote controller state are provided to solve a problem that if a home appliance does not perform its function, it is not possible to check whether its remote controller has an error or the home appliance has an error. When power is supplied to a home appliance, a controller accesses and drives a remote controller checking program to display a normal state of a remote controller(S110,S120). The controller checks whether or not a remote controller signal is received via a receiving unit(S130). If a remote control signal is received, the controller outputs a display driving command for blinking at certain periods to display the normal state of the remote controller a lamp(S150). The controller analyzes a received remote controller signal(S160) to checks whether the remote controller signal is a signal for remotely controlling a home appliance(S170). If the remote controller signal is a signal for remotely controlling a home appliance, the controller is driven according to a control command corresponding to the remote controller signal(S180). |
