A device for preventing overheating and a frontloading washing machine having the same are provided to prevent damage to a tub caused by overheat by connecting a second contact point with a cold water valve and supplying cold water into the tub when the tub is overheated. A device for preventing overheating comprises a cabinet(50), a tub(52), a heater(60), a second contact point switch, a supporting stand, and an elastic member. The tub is installed in the cabinet, and contains water. The heater is installed in the tub to supply heat energy. The second contact point switch is installed on a power cable which is connected to the heater. The supporting stand supports the second contact point switch, and causes the second contact point switch to make contact with a second contact point after supporting force of the supporting stand is released. |
