OCCUPANT PROTECTION DEVICE OF VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protection device provided with an airbag inflating in a seat part of a seat mounted in a vehicle to restrain an occupant on the seat satisfactorily while preventing abrupt inflation of the airbag.

SOLUTION: This occupant protection device of the vehicle is provided with the airbag to be inflated by the gas generated from a gas generation source in the seat part of the seat mounted in the vehicle. In this occupant protection device, gas blowout speed (indicated by a solid line B in Fig. 5 (a)) becomes a speed S1 because a predetermined number and size of gas blowout holes in the gas generation source are formed so that deployment speed of the airbag in the direction of height becomes a predetermined speed or less to prevent the occupant from rising excessively when the airbag is inflated.
