<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display apparatus which can suppress resolution degradation of an image projected on a screen and can obtain sufficiently high resolution and further which can obtain a stable high quality image having little registration deviation. <P>SOLUTION: White light emitted from a light source 1 is nearly made to S polarized light by an integrator optical system and a polarized light conversion optical system 2, is made to pass through a 1st field lens 4 and further through a X dichromic mirror 5 and a mirror 6 and then is reflected by a wire grid polarizing beam splitter 11 to illuminate each reflection type liquid crystal element 12. Each image light obtained by modulation of the illumination light is made incident on the wire grid polarizing beam splitter 11 again and is transmitted therethrough and is projected on the screen 17 via a X prism 13 which is a color composition prism where a cylindrical lens 15 is fixed by adhesion, and a projection lens 16. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
