<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of continuously separating particles from a large volume of a fluid ranging from a very small scale to a large scale by using the speed of the fluid and the spiral form of a channel. <P>SOLUTION: The device (20) comprises an inflow opening operated to accept the fluid containing the particles, a spirally structured channel (22) operated to allow the fluid to flow, means (24, 26) for separating the particles in the fluid and at least one outflow opening for the fluid. The channel is allowed to have a width, a height and a radius of curvature.
