PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water purification element and a water purifier using the water purification element, in each of which a high sterilization action can be kept for a long period of time. SOLUTION: The water purifier is constituted with multi layers of water purification elements, at least the most downstream layer contains silver and at least one of silver compounds 37, 38. In water purification element substrates 32, 34 of the layer containing the silver component is formed in a plurality of layers, and silver sulfide 38 is formed in the outermost layer.
