PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for safely storing printed documents enabling log recording by monitoring the access to the documents.

SOLUTION: Power is supplied to electronic paper 205 to make a security layer 230 transparent and to enable image reception in a document layer 230. Next, the image is projected to the electronic paper 205, and the power supply to the document layer 220 is shut off. Thereby the image is held in the document layer 220. The power supply to the security layer 230 is shut off to put the security layer 230 into an opaque state. Since the security layer 230 is opaque, the image held by the document layer 230 is no longer visible. A control means (security circuit) supplies the power to the security layer 230 only when a correct security code is input. The security code is saved in a key and only the person having the correct key can browse the documents.
