<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a memory in a comparatively simple configuration in a re-encoding apparatus such as a DVD/HDD recorder. <P>SOLUTION: The re-encoding apparatus comprises: a decoding means (50) which decodes first encoded data resulting from encoding moving image data according to a decoding method with first motion compensation to generate decoded data; an encoding means (60) which encodes the generated decoded data according to an encoding method with second motion compensation to generate second encoded data; a storage means (500) for temporarily storing the generated decoded data; and a first storage means (210) which extracts reference pixel data for the first and second motion compensation from the stored decoded data, temporarily stores the extracted data, sequentially supplies the stored reference pixel data to the decoding means in timing to be used for the first motion compensation, and sequentially supplies the stored reference pixel data to the encoding means in timing to be used for the second motion compensation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
