An apparatus and a method of power control in a portable device are provided to use the power source of the portable device efficiently by blocking unnecessary power consumption using a MICOM and a flash memory. An apparatus of power control in a portable device comprises a network connecting unit(16), a flash memory(15), a storage unit(18), a power control unit(17) and a MICOM. The flash memory stores temporarily data which is downloaded through the network connecting unit. The storage unit stores the data which is stored in the flash memory. The power control unit controls the power according to a design when downloading the data. The MICOM controls the entire system by using the information concerned with the data download.
