PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bar coater which is capable of avoiding the generation of the coating non-uniformity and coating failure to an object to be coated. SOLUTION: The bar coater is provided with a bar 8 arranged so that the longitudinal direction crosses with respect to the conveying direction of the object to be coated, a pair of supporting mechanisms 9, 9 having a support part to rotatably support both ends of the bar 8, a block unit 6 to supply a coating liquid between its upper surface and the bar 8, which is arranged under the bar 8, and a base plate 5 to which the supporting mechanisms 9 and the block unit 6 are fitted. The bar coater is characterized in that at least one of the pair of the supporting mechanisms 9 is constituted so that the support is transferable to at least one direction among a first direction along the length direction of the bar 8, a second direction along the conveying direction of the object to be coated and a third direction along the direction of contact and separation to the block unit 6.
