<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program recording and reproducing device capable of displaying a reproduction history even if a thumbnail image display area is used, and making a list table of a number of programs. <P>SOLUTION: The program recording and reproducing device comprises an operation control portion 2, a recording/reproducing information management portion 4, a list table generation portion 6, and a display portion 7. The operation control portion 2 instructs recording on a recording medium or a content chosen from contents recorded on the recording medium. The recording/reproducing information management portion 4 reproduces the content chosen by instruction of the operation control portion 2 among contents recorded on the recording medium, and extracts and stores a record time of the content and one image included in each content as a thumbnail image. The list table generation portion 6 multiplies a shrinkage ratio having a relation of (record time-reproduction time)/(record time) by a thumbnail image to generate a shrink thumbnail image, wherein the reproduction time is a time duration for reproducing a content recorded on recording medium, and associates a name and the shrink thumbnail image for the recorded content to generate a list table.
